When Life and Business Collide: Holding Space for Grief, Love, and Purpose

The past few weeks have been a blur of hospital rooms, whispered prayers, and the kind of exhaustion that no amount of coffee can fix. My Papa—the man who taught me to dream, and to fight for what matters—was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer.

The past few weeks have been a blur of hospital rooms, whispered prayers, and the kind of exhaustion that no amount of coffee can fix. My Papa—the man who taught me to pray, to dream, and to fight for what matters—was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. And suddenly, the weight of it all feels like too much.

Between holding his hand at night, prepping my boys for gym and training, keeping our home from crumbling, and trying to show up for my clients, I’ve had to ask myself: How do you keep building when your world is breaking?

The Raw Truth About “Balance” (Spoiler: It Doesn’t Exist)

They tell you to “juggle it all,” but no one warns you that sometimes, the balls you’re juggling are made of glass.

  • Business: Projects don’t stop because your heart is shattered. Deadlines don’t care if you spent the night in the ER.

  • Motherhood: Showing up for my son—even when I’m emotionally spent—because he deserves joy in the middle of the mess.

  • Marriage: Leaning hard on my husband, who’s become my rock, even when we’re both running on empty.

  • Caregiving: Learning to advocate for Papa’s pain meds, to cherish mundane moments, and to cry in the car between appointments.

What This Season Is Teaching Me About Marketing (and Life)

  1. Authenticity Over Aesthetics

    • I used to think my brand had to look “perfect.” Now? I’m learning that the most powerful marketing is human marketing. Your audience doesn’t need curated—they need real.

  2. Boundaries Are Holy

    • Saying “no” to non-urgent projects. Turning off notifications to be fully present with Papa. Rest isn’t selfish—it’s survival.

  3. Love Is the Ultimate ROI

    • At the end of the day, no one remembers your Instagram metrics. They remember how you made them feel. And right now, I want Papa to feel loved more than I want any accolade.

The Sacred Work of Showing Up

Some days, “showing up” means sending a client email from the hospital cafeteria. Other days, it means canceling calls to sit with Papa while he sleeps. Both are holy.

To anyone else walking through impossible seasons:

  • Your work still matters—but it’s okay if it looks different for a while.

  • Grief and gratitude can coexist. I’m heartbroken, but I’m also thankful for every moment we still have.

  • You don’t have to choose between your calling and your loved ones. God sees the tension, and He’s holding you in it.

A Note to My Clients and Community:
Thank you for grace as I navigate this season. I’m still here—just with more tears, more prayers, and a fiercer commitment to building brands that bless while remembering what truly lasts.
